University College London (New Research Centre)


The new institute, known as the Sainsbury Wellcome Centre, represents a partnership between the Gatsby Charitable Foundation and the Wellcome Trust to establish a new research centre in Neural Circuits and Behaviour at UCL.

ESH were contracted to design, supply and install a trace heating system for the frost protection of the CHW pipework within the west AHU plantroom.

Regent Street Block W4, London


Part of The Crown Estate's £1 billion investment in Regent Street, the redevelopment of block W4 will provide 33,000sq ft of retail space as well as a further 97,000sq ft of office space. 

For this large project ESH designed, supplied and installed a trace heating system to provide frost protection to the external LTHW (flow & return), CHW (f&r) and the boosted CWS pipework on the buildings roof. In total over 420 metres of type FBT self limited heating tape was installed throughout this project.

This contract was spilt into two projects:

  • Part 1 - To supply and install trace heating to 3" pipework and a 6.4m x 3m vessel within a Zone 1 T4 Hazardous Area to maintain +20°C. Over 200 metres of type SCBX hazardous area constant wattage heating cable was installed.
  • Part 2 - Within a Zone 1, Group llB, T Class T3 Hazardous Area, supply and install 200m of type SCBX to 1.5" metal pipework in order to maintain the temperature at +20°C.

This project involved ESH providing frost protection to cold water pipework in an external minimum ambient temperature of -20°C. The system was arranged into three circuits which were interconnected with the thermostat and existing control panel.

Within this brand new Cineworld, ESH were contracted to design supply and install a +65°C hot water temperature maintenance system to the HTA hot water service pipework. The pipes leading to and inside the wash-room areas were straight traced with H2OWAT65 self regulating heating cable.

Part of the schools £3.5m expansion, ESH were contracted to supply and install a trace heating system to provide hot water temperature maintenance to the domestic hot water services pipework. The system required maintaining at +55°C, this was achieved by installing our type H2OWAT55 self regulating heating cable to the underside of the copper pipework.

Falcon House is a seven story building, built for offices back in 1909. Recently purchased by a royal family from the middle east, this building is being converted into what could become the most expensive house in London - second only to Buckingham Palace.

Within this student accommodation redevelopment, ESH designed, supplied and installed a trace heating system to provide frost protection to the CWS and BCWS pipework and pumps. Type FBT self regulating heating cable was installed to achieved to desired requirements.

Bishop Of Winchester Academy, Bournemouth

The academy is undergoing a £14.5 million rebuild with a completion date of February 2014. Within this modern academy ESH provided frost protection to the heat recovery and cold water pipework in an external minimum ambient temperature of -20°C. Within this training centre for this national training giant, ESH designed, supplied and installed a frost protection trace heating system to the external Methene pipework.

This was our second project down at Ewer Street after previously installing an internal hot water temperature maintenance system. 

On this occasion ESH were contracted to supply and install a frost protection trace heating system to protect the roof mounted cold water pipework.



Phoenix Academy, Telford

For this local Academy, ESH designed, supplied and installed a trace heating system to provide frost protection to the roof mounted pipework. The metal pipework included the heating pipes associated with three air handling units and also five other pipes of various services. Over 530 metres of constant wattage heating tape was installed in total.

ESH designed, supplied and installed a trace heating system to provide temperature maintenance of +85°C to a large vessel in a minimum ambient temperature of -10°C.

The tank itself was 2.9m in height, 1.8m wide and in order to maintain the desired temperature we used over 120m of our VCBOJ12 constant wattage tape, wrapped around the vessel sides and base.

At this independent award winning brewery, ESH supplied and installed a 240 volt trace heating system to provide frost protection to external pipework in a ambient temperature of -20°C.

Work is nearly complete to convert an old sock factory in Leicester into student accommodation. Pinderfields Hospital, Wakefield


Designed, supplied and installed a trace heating system to temperature maintain the domestic hot water pipework at +55°C with a purge facility up to +65°C.

North Birmingham Academy


Within this brand new, modern looking academy, ESH provided frost protection to the air handling unit pipework within the external AHU compound. Type VC constant wattage heating cable was supplied and installed to prevent the pipework temperature dropping below 5°C.

Enterprises House in Uxbridge is the European HQ for Coca Cola, here ESH designed, supplied and installed a trace heating system to provide temperature maintenance to the domestic hot water system pipework at +55°C. Type H2OWAT55 self regulating heating cable was installed to meet the requirements.

Within the brand new Audi showroom, ESH designed, supplied and installed a frost protection trace heating system to the CHW pipework.

Birmingham Heartlands Hospital



Heartlands is the largest hospital within the Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust. ESH were contract to design, supply and install a frost protection system for the chilled water pipework in the external chiller compound on the roof.

Balfour Beatty Modules

ESH were asked to design, supply and install multiple hot water temperature maintenance systems onto 'OFF SITE' modular buildings. Over 300 metres of type H2OWAT self regulating heating cable was installed. 

BIAD Project, Millennium Point, Birmingham

Birmingham Institute of Arts and Design (BIAD) is the brand new, state of the art facility in the heart of Birmingham. For the large project, ESH were contracted to design, supply and install a frost protection system to external pipework. In total over 900 metres of type VCB constant wattage heating cable was installed.

Princess Foods, Bradford

As part of Princes £40m redevelopment and expansion at their Bradford soft drinks factory, ESH supplied and installed a dual Trace Heating system to maintain the pipework at a temperature of 60°C. There were a total of five pipes, each 46 metres in length, installed with a primary and secondary system.
